AHL ZANIER

I have been a watercolor artist for over 40 years, and in 2009, I started my own company MAZart. My studio is located in the converted warehouse of my grandparents’ old general store, where we now live.

Every morning I eagerly head to my studio where I find stillness and harmony to be creative. The majority of my inspiration comes from my graden, where I find colors from the whole rainbow, shapes and flowers for my watercolor paintings and pattern designs.

When I stared MAZart, I offered many watercolor course in my studio. But when the pandemic hit in 2020 I went to a digital format. Today, my focus is more on making online courses and I have recently started a membership club: MAZart Watercolor Club. Members receive a new step-by-step video each month where I share tips and tricks.

I was born in 1964 in Lammhult, Sweden and since 2000, I have lived in the small village of Berg in the Swedish countryside with my husband Mike. We have two wonderful grown up kids, Josef and Manda.

I have always loved traveling and exploring new places. I left Sweden the first time when I was 18 and headed west to San Fransisco. After six months I enrolled at the Academy of Art Collage, where my painting journey really took off. Over the years I have lived in Canada, Italy, Germany and England due to my husband’s job. No matter where we were, I continued taking classes and developing my artwork.

My biggest event of the year is Bergveckan, Berg Week, a local art and craft exhibition in the beginning of July each year. It brings thousands of visitors to our small village, Berg yearly. I have been a part of Bergveckan for 30 years. It is always a joy of excitement to open up the studio doors for the visitors coming from near and far.

Another yearly exhibition is Växjö Konstrunda, Växjö Art Tour, that I have been a part of for around 10 years. It is a weekend exhibition in the beginning of October with about 40 different artists in and around Växjö Kommun. This years exhibition will be on the 5-6 October 2024 in my studio in Berg and the grand opening on the 4th at Växjö Konsthall.
